Professor Casey is Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Adult Psychiatry, UCD and Consultant Psychiatrist in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. She is the author of 11 books, including Psychiatry and the Law, a Guide to Psychiatry in Primary Care and is co-editor of the book Stress and Trauma Related Disorder, which has been published by American Psychiatric Publishing (APP) (Casey & Strain) in 2016. She is now writing Adjustment Disorder: From Controversy to Clinical Practice, for publication by Oxford University Press in late 2016. She has published over 120 papers in peer reviewed journals. Her research interests include suicidal behaviour and adjustment disorders. She is Editor of BJPsych Advances (published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London) since September 2012. She is a regular contributor to the media and writes a weekly column for the Irish Independent (Mind and Meaning).
