YOU GOT IT WRONG - Louise Mensch

The aim of this blog is to highlight persons in the media who tout the chemical imbalance theory as a fact. It's highly unprofessional and misleading to do so and this blog demands that any statements relating to the 'chemical imbalance' myth should either be backed up with supporting evidence or retracted.

Where possible, each person featured on this blog has been contacted via Twitter, email, and/or Facebook and asked to retract their statements or provide supporting evidence.

Once supporting evidence has been shown they will be removed from this blog. Moreover, if they retract their original statements they will also be removed from this blog.

As you will see from these lists, many of the authors are household names and influence those who follow them. This has to stop. The chemical imbalance line was created by the pharmaceutical industry, moreover, Eli Lilly, who launched the first of the SSRIs, Prozac.

Those featured on this list need to do their research.

Quote: "Excellent piece on Caroline Flack by @alice_emily, looking at her as a talented broadcaster, and excoriating the media for its double standards. I only wish Vincent had not said “wean herself off antidepressants”. A brain chemistry imbalance killed her. Depression alters our brain chemistry and lies to us about who we are and what the future can bring."

Quote: "Depression affects a person’s thoughts, behavior, feelings and sense of well-being and is caused due to biological, genetics, environment, and psychological factors. Depression drugs work by fixing a chemical imbalance such as lack of serotonin in the brain. Antidepressants help in the treatment of depression by maintaining the balance of various hormones and chemicals in the brain."

Article: I just want people to understand

Quote: "I suffer from a little thing called depression. Well, actually it’s not little, but to an outsider looking it I guess it might seem… sorry I’m rambling. Anyway, that’s one problem I have and it’s caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Though I don’t know exactly why or how the chemical imbalance works, I know this is true and that the imbalance is there."

Quote: "There’s times it’s hard to push that scary red button of ‘record’ for me, because of struggling with mental health. There’s mornings that I’m struggling. We all struggle anyway, but having a chemical imbalance can make it more difficult some days than others to push that button when I’m feeling very vulnerable. It’s kind of tough."
